TCEB Unveils Strategic Direction for Thailand’s MICE Industry in 2026 Leveraging Brand Insights to Elevate Thailand’s Competitive Strengths Deepening Industry Focus, Advancing Sustainability Standards, Driving Data & Innovation and Strategic Partnership

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization), or TCEB, has unveiled its roadmap to drive Thailand’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry forward in 2026, launching the TCEB Strategic Direction 2026 “From Change that Matters to Impact that Lasts.” The strategy harnesses insights from global Brand research to transform Thailand’s core industry strengths into compelling national and regional value proposition. Key priorities include advancing internationally recognised sustainability standards, strengthening data, intelligence and innovation as key marketing drivers, and enhancing regulatory flexibility through closer collaboration with related government agencies. TCEB has set a growth target of 10% for Thailand’s MICE industry in 2026.

Dr. Supawan Teerarat, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, said that for 2026 the bureau has defined a clear vision for Thailand to become a global leader in MICE, grounded in its positioning as “Global–Asia’s Trusted Gateway”—a trusted gateway to Asia for the world. The objective is for Thailand’s MICE industry to deliver high-impact outcomes for both the economy and industries, while providing transformative, high-value and sustainable experiences.
To realise this vision, TCEB has sharpened its “TCEB Go” strategy. Firstly, in positioning Thailand as Global MICE Leader, TCEB will focus on promoting Thailand’s strong industries as international selling points. Secondly, to create and synergise destination competitiveness, TCEB will concentrate on incubating MICE talent and entrepreneurs and strengthening certification system with global standard. Thirdly, in enhancing MICE ecosystem, the bureau will drive proactive policy to maximise stakeholders’ benefit and developing platform for integrated innovation and data intelligence. Fourthly, building agile and high-performance organisation will be undertaken through data-driven initiative, while go for sustainable growth will be driven by ESG integration and positioning sustainability as Thailand’s competitive advantage. These efforts aim to ensure that Thailand’s MICE growth is of high quality, delivering great impact in a sustainable manner.
Dr. Supawan added that sharpening the focus on Thailand’s core industries as business event drivers aligns with the bureau’s new policy to strengthen brand clarity in global competition. This approach is also strongly supported by the findings of TCEB’s Brand Insights study, conducted among 568 international MICE experts and professionals, which highlighted the need for Thailand to clearly showcase its competitive industries. These include medical sciences, wellness & longevity, advanced agricultural technology, biotechnology, future food innovation, the creative economy, advanced manufacturing, sustainable tourism, and digital and AI technologies.
On sustainability, TCEB’s strategy responds to key global trends identified in its research, emphasising that sustainability performance must be validated through credible, internationally recognised standards and supported by transparent, traceable verification systems, Dr. Supawan noted.
The TCEB Go strategic framework has been translated into three implementation concepts:
- Shift for Impact for international markets,
- Change for Growth for domestic markets and destination development, and
- Meaningful Trust, which focuses on building confidence through recognised standards, services and tangible support system.
Shift for Impact
Driven by the 4R: Redefine, Regenerate, Reimagine and Revolutionize, the focus is on deeper, industry-specific market penetration; the development of market intelligence to guide marketing strategies; the advancement of sustainable event standards with credible third-party certification; and initiatives such as the “Road to Net Zero Carbon” campaign. Complementary programmes include MEET WELL, which responds to global demand for wellness, wellbeing and diverse experiential offerings when hosting events in Thailand.
Change for Growth
Guided by the 4D: Drive Value, Direct Real Sector, Demand Proactive and Differentiate, this approach clearly defines priority industry segments to ensure MICE events deliver high value, while establishing targeted industry sectors in all 5 regions of Thailand.
- Central region: food security and biotechnology
- Eastern region: smart manufacturing
- Northern region: creative and cultural industries
- Northeastern region: medical and wellness based on local wisdom
- Southern region: premium wellness markets
This strategy is supported by the campaign “Thailand MICE: Go All Out – Ignite Nationwide Demand, Develop the Thai Economy”, aimed at stimulating trade fairs and exhibitions across regional cities nationwide.
Meaningful Trust
Driven by the 3P: Performance, Partnership and Prestige, the focus is on strengthening trust and cooperation with government agencies to improve regulatory frameworks and facilitate more efficient event organisation. Measures include expanding the range of products permitted for temporary import into trade exhibitions, easing work permit regulations for international organisers, providing tax incentives for event organisers, and extending MICE Fast Track services beyond Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports to Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Udon Thani airports. Clear and standardised Terms of Reference (TORs) for sustainable event management will also be developed to guide industry operators.
Dr. Supawan concluded that the Brand Insights findings and the 2026 strategic direction will serve as the foundation for the next phase of developing the MaxiMICE Thailand brand. For 2026, TCEB targets 10% growth, with 29.4 million MICE travellers in total—comprising 28.2 million domestic travellers and 1.2 million international travellers. Total MICE revenue is projected at THB 163 billion, including THB 92 billion from domestic travellers and THB 71 billion from international travellers. This is expected to increase the MICE sector’s contribution to Thailand’s GDP to 1.77%, up from 1.65%.
